Employment Discrimination

Bob Steinberg has more than 40 years of experience in handling employment discrimination cases.  During 18 years as a U.S. Magistrate Judge, 40% of the cases Judge Steinberg presided over involved employment discrimination.  In those cases, he ruled on dispositive motions, presided over bench and jury trials, and ruled on motions for attorney’s fees.  He also mediated and settled hundreds of discrimination and civil rights cases.

During 20 years of private law practice, about 35% of the cases Mr. Steinberg handled involved employment discrimination, including major class action cases involving race, gender and age discrimination and individual cases involving disability discrimination, religious discrimination and sexual harassment.  As a private professional mediator, he settled hundreds of employment discrimination cases.  As a professional arbitrator, he decided numerous employment-related cases. As Program Director of the Cincinnati Bar Association ADR services, he wrote the arbitration rules applying to employment disputes, incorporating the Federal Judicial Center’s employment protocols, which result in faster arbitration conclusions. During 2013 and 2014, Mr. Steinberg presented seminars at the Ohio Employment Lawyers Association Annual meeting, the Ohio State Bar Association Annual Convention and the Potter Stewart American Inn of Court on the subject of the new federal Discovery Protocols for Employment Cases.
