During his term as a U.S. Magistrate Judge, a substantial number of the cases assigned to Judge Steinberg involved employment disputes. During the last 18 years of private law practice, he has been retained by plaintiffs and by defendants to represent them in litigation related to employment issues. These disputes included race, gender, age, religious and national origin discrimination, FMLA issues, ERISA issues, sexual harassment and retaliation issues. As a result, he has developed expertise in recognizing policies and procedures that employers should use to avoid litigation and methods for defending litigation that has been initiated. More recently, Mr. Steinberg has been retained by boards of directors of corporations to investigate sexual harassment complaints against top management officials and file a report with the board.
Employers can benefit from a consultation on these subjects in order to avoid or to defend against an employment claim.
